Overview
Ad Results Media is seeking a Media Planner to join our Media Department whose overall objective is to generate consistent & profitable revenue growth for our clients and the agency.
This role will primarily support the Client Account Strategist (AS) and will be responsible for the reliable execution of our client’s advertising campaigns including campaign optimization and refinement, external media negotiations, ownership of the media buying order flow process, support of other client projects and needs, and development of strong relationships with media partners so as to satisfy clients’ objectives. A successful media planner can thrive in a fast-paced environment and must be very detail-oriented, organized, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. They are resourceful and have strong data entry and negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, buy and optimize media schedules on behalf of clients across various media channels including Podcasts, terrestrial local and national radio, satellite radio, digital streaming audio and YouTube.
- Compile, track, and generate competitive intelligence reports for specific clients to be delivered on a regular cadence
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with various media partners to be able to effectively vet and manage ad availability
- Transcribe competitor and client radio audio for both live and recorded spots
- Research, evaluate and organize all media opportunities and availability and work with Account Strategist to help present strong opportunities to clients
- Supply “Alerts” to client on new client competitor offers or competitor “jabs” at the client
- Request media avails from stations and vendor partners for upcoming buys and campaigns
- Gather and maintain demographic numbers for terrestrial radio campaigns
- Work with Account Strategist and outside rep groups to make ad schedule changes
- Manage and resolve all spot discrepancies with networks and show hosts and ensure that buying software (SBMS/Strata) is updated and reconciled.
- Create endorser profile presentations for Account Strategists
- Provide timely competitive creative reporting in response to competitive product launches and announcements
- Executes all plans through effective and efficient daily management
- Responsible for staying on top of latest media trends, technologies and ad platforms and sharing information with larger team/educate
- Drive quality control and establish optimization levels to assist in exceeding client KPI goals
- Own tactical items for campaign management such as promotion code set up, product sample seeding, influencer onboarding calls, among other items
- Work with endorsers and/or media network groups on various items to set up campaigns
- Ad hoc client projects as requested by Account Strategist or Senior Planner
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years’ work experience, preferably in media, marketing or advertising
- Proficiency in audio media buying systems
- Self-starter, industrious and strong critical thinking skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a thirst for learning
- Proven negotiation skills with outside partners or willingness to learn how to
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong numerical aptitude and accuracy
- Working knowledge of Google Sheets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform detailed tasks accurately the first time
- Able to take direction well as well learn and follow internal processes
- Confident demeanor, but also understanding when to ask for help and clarification
- Strong track record of meeting deadlines on projects
- Strong sense of teamwork and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally
